POPSTAR: NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING REVIEW

'Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping' is the first film from the music comedy trio 'The Lonely Island' and stars Andy Samberg as Conner4Real, a arrogant and ignorant musician who has broken off from his other bandmates in order to go solo with disastrous results. The film is shot in a documentary style, this being the most appropriate as the film is largely mocking Justin Bieber's 'Never Say Never' & 'Believe' films and the singer himself in many ways. It also generally takes stabs at the music industry in general, as well as a great sequence that completely trashes 'TMZ' that is one of many highlights.

Probably the biggest highlight of 'Popstar' is undoubtedly the songs written for the film, which are hilarious and extremely offensive (DO NOT TAKE KIDS TO THIS!) while also being very clever and some songs I would play on my iPod any day. Being a fan of the groups' previous efforts anyway, these are even larger improvements. While the film is very fast paced and quick with each joke, the major low point of the film is actually the film's documentary style. It works for the most part, but many times during the film it slows it to a crawl and draws out scenes, leading to boredom at times.

Luckily, the film picks up at the last moment to a great finish while also being thought-provoking at the same time. You get to see these three not just as characters in this film, but you do get a sense of the men behind them and it makes the film easier to appreciate, knowing that they put a lot of heart and effort into it. The film will easily offend 99% of people out there in some way ('Equal Rights' being most likely the target song for that) but for fans of The Lonely Island or just some great comedy, 'Popstar' is an easy sell that you should immediately check out.
